The presentation will be presented by Seoul Asan Medical Center professors Kim Song-cheol and Sung Min-gyu.

Pancreatic cysts are relatively common diseases found in about 13 to 18% of the general population, and their prevalence increases rapidly, especially in those over the age of 50. However, it is difficult to distinguish between benign and malignant only by imaging tests, and some cysts can progress to pancreatic cancer over time, so the clinical need for early risk assessment has been continuously raised.

The research team analyzed the DNA fragments by collecting a small amount of cyst fluid from the surgically removed cyst and quantified the KRAS gene mutation signal. As a result, the mutation signal was low or rarely observed in the near-positive cyst, while the high-risk lesion tended to show a high signal. In particular, the patient group with high KRAS and GNAS mutation signals was found to have a 24.1-fold increase in the pre-cancerous or cancerous potential.

In addition, KRAS signals were high in some low-risk lesions, and 1 in 3 cases progressed to pancreatic cancer within 3 years. In the rest of the cases, recurrence of low-risk lesions was confirmed after surgery, suggesting the possibility that KRAS mutation signals could be used as indicators for predicting disease progression and recurrence risk beyond simple diagnosis.

MUTE-Seq used in this study is a CRISPR-based ultra-sensitive NGS technology designed to selectively reduce normal cell-derived DNA signals and highlight cancer-related mutation signals. GeneCker explained that the technology was already orally published by AACR last year and selected as a cover paper for the journal Advanced Materials, and this study was an example of extending it to the area of pancreatic cysts.

Meanwhile, GeneCker said that based on the technology, the multi-cancer risk test "Oncodipscan Cancer Cell Exploration Test" has been commercialized and operated at health promotion centers at 11 university hospitals in Korea.

The company said, "Based on the experience of testing already operated in the medical field, we will expand quantitative molecular indicators in areas where clinical judgment is difficult, such as pancreatic cysts."

출처 : 청년의사(http://www.docdocdoc.co.kr)

["post-2185","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
